L'auditorium et la cafétéria doivent être réunis dans une architecture close, un monolithe à grandes facettes, objet mystérieux et insaisissable abritant les nourritures du corps et de l'esprit ; il est une source, la connaissance.

 

Le bâtiment pourrait donner le sentiment d'avoir été construit autour de ce monolithe, ce qui expliquerait l'espace qui les sépare. Le bâtiment serait comme un écrin qui à la fois met en valeur, protège et permet d'accéder à la connaissance, masse insondable aux multiples facettes que l’on ne peut jamais percevoir dans son ensemble.

 

Le rythme et la proportion des percements des deux voiles béton encadrant le monolithe devront évoquer une façade. La forme de ces percements sera celle d’une meurtrière se répétant sur toute la hauteur du voile (au delà de l’escalier donc), dans un équilibre parfait entre le plein et le vide, comme un moment suspendant le chaos et le mystère du monde.

Ces meurtrières protègent le monolithe, permettant le passage du regard et de l'esprit mais pas celui des corps. Elles peuvent être envisagées comme autant de points de vue ou de vues de l’esprit possibles.

The auditorium and cafeteria are to be brought together in a closed architecture, a large-faceted monolith, a mysterious and elusive object housing the nourishment of body and mind; it is a source, knowledge.

 

The building could give the impression of having been built around this monolith, which would explain the space separating them. The building would be like a jewel case that at once enhances, protects and provides access to knowledge, an unfathomable, multi-faceted mass that can never be perceived in its entirety.

 

The rhythm and proportion of the openings in the two concrete walls framing the monolith should evoke a façade. The shape of these openings will be that of a loophole repeated over the entire height of the veil (beyond the staircase), in a perfect balance between full and empty, like a moment suspending the chaos and mystery of the world.

These loopholes protect the monolith, allowing the gaze and the mind to pass through, but not the body. They can be seen as so many possible points of view or views of the mind.
